Projectors for Computer Science and Ad-tech Classes: 1 of 4

SUBJECT AREA: CST (All Computer Science and ADTech subjects)

NAME AND POSITION OF REQUESTOR: Francis Joseph Seriña

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
Philippine Science High School is the premier Science High School of the nation.  One of its units is the Computer Science and Technology (CST) Unit which teaches program logic formulation, computer programming, web development, object-oriented programming, data structures and algorithms and a variety of special topics such as technical skill proficiency, data communications, video game development, embedded systems, robotics, and electronics.  Most of these subjects are highly abstract.  In fact, only a few high schools are capable of delivering such extensive education.
In line with the vision of the school, it is crucial that the methods for teaching are visual and continuous.  Aside from lecture slides, we give a lot of step-by-step demonstrations for the whole class repeatedly.  Projectors greatly enhance the learning experience making sure everyone is able to follow efficiently.  Clarifications are quickly addressed since the projector allows us to respond faster.  This also prevents repetition of inquiries during class since everyone is able to monitor the lecture through the projected instructions.
With recent technologies aiding teachers to create more graphic lecture materials, long-lasting quality projectors become a necessity in equipping the next generation with knowledge and skills to be globally competitive.

Projectors for Math Classes

SUBJECT AREA: Mathematics

NAME AND POSITION OF REQUESTOR: Leo Andrei Crisologo, Mathematics Unit Head

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

Students are better motivated to learn about mathematical concepts like functions, circles, ellipses, and other figures if they can visualize their graphs. The projectors currently used in the Math subjects are full of dead pixels which interfere with the visuals and are a cause of distraction for the students. New projectors will go a long way in ensuring that our students have a complete picture of the graphs and diagrams used to illustrate Math concepts and allow the teachers to take advantage of technology effectively.

Graphing applications like Geogebra (http://www.geogebra.org) allow for a more dynamic presentation of concepts in graphing functions, and the PSHS-MC Math teachers are excited to take advantage of these learning opportunities. With your help, the students will be able to clearly see the graphs on the screen, and not like this:

LCD Projectors for Bio Lab

Biology education becomes so much more interesting if the organisms or their parts being discussed can actually be experienced. Since it is not always possible to bring actual samples to the laboratory, students will at least be given a chance to see pictures and videos of these on screen. It will be like opening up the classroom to a much larger living world! We really hope you can help us furnish the Biology labs in the main campus with fixed LCD projectors and their accessories.
