Power Tools for Making Things

SUBJECT AREA: ADTECH 2

NAME AND POSITION OF REQUESTOR: Monica Xavier, CST Unit

DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

In ADTECH (formerly Tech Skills), students learn about the highs and heartaches (or “are introduced to the basics”) of the design and engineering professions by making and troubleshooting their creations. They also learn how to use and manipulate tools and materials.

Actually, the lab could do with MANY MORE items, but let’s start with one of my favorite tools: the jigsaw. Well-used and well-loved, the jigsaw cuts down on project making time. It also gets used for robot projects, props making for the Ramayana, research and more.

You might ask: why not more than 2 jigsaws? Answer: I already have one, and supervising more than 3 simultaneous jigsaws at any given time is a bit too risky for 1 teacher.

* Makita - Made in Japan, is more expensive compared to the Makita models that are Made in China, but they are very robust.

ESTIMATED COST:

TOTAL: 23,200.00
