November 12, 2013 - From Director Gene Andres

Updates from Dr. Biyo and Ms. Habacon (CLC director) on PSHS EVC:

"all bldgs have no roof, trusses damaged

still missing : 1 student and familly, 1 part time PE teacher

possibly dead : driver and family

they brought the ff to the campus:

satellite phone from DOST-ASTI (thanks to Denis Villorente B84)

food (rice, noodles and canned goods) from money donated by PSHS MC students and employees (Students and employees were able to collect P108K yesterday!)

They plan to go back again next week. I suggested that maybe a team of alumni volunteers (counselors, health workers, engineers?) can lead the group next week. Also since 300-500 people are evacuated in the dorm maybe the school can become a relief center for the neighboring areas na rin (but will have to discuss this with Dr. Biyo and director of EVC, Dr. Garnace). Dr. Biyo is now back in Cebu and will visit earthquake-damaged cebu campus tomorrow."

November 11, 2013

Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) has knocked out communications, so we have no official word yet as to the extent of the damage to the campus and if there are injuries or casualties among the local PSHS community.

Palo is located very near the shoreline and we fear that the campus and the community have been affected by the storm surge and strong winds due to typhoon Yolanda. News reports say that Palo town was one of the hard-hit areas in Leyte. We are presently trying to get additional information and will constantly update this site.

In the meantime, AghamRoad is opening the project PSHS EVC Emergency Fund to accept donations and pledges for whatever the PSHS EVC community will be needing in the coming days. The donations will go directly to the account of PSHS Foundation, Inc who will then forward to the PSHS EVC Campus account.

Thank you very much for your generous donations and pledges during these trying times. Kindly continue checking back on this site as we provide official updates as soon as we get them.
